Odisha vigilance raid on stenographer in Nayagarh of Odisha

The government stenographer was apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 48,000/- from a Complainant (Teacher). 

Nayagarh: A short while ago, a stenographer identified as Durga Prasad Mohapatra of office of District Treasury Officer, Nayagarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance.

The said government employee was apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 48,000/- from a Complainant (Teacher).

The bribe was sought in order to process applications of 161 teachers (@ Rs 300/- per teacher) for opening of PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) from PRAN centre, under IT Department, Bhubaneswar.

It is worth mentioning that the entire bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of Mohapatra and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Mohapatra, Jr. Stenographer from DA angle.

In this connection with this, a Bhubaneswar Vigilance Case no 11/2023 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Mohapatra.

A detailed report is awaited in this matter.
