Nabarangpur: Vigilance officials arrest Accountant-cum-Programmer for taking Rs 1 lakh bribe

Nabarangpur: Bikash Sana, the Accountant-cum-Programmer of the office of the District Education Officer (DEO) in Nabarangpur was apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe this evening.

According to reports, Bikash Sana was arrested by the Vigilance officials while he was taking a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from a complainant (Contractor) in order to process transport bills of MDM Rice to be distributed at the school points and to facilitate the release of the security deposit in his favour.

The anti-corruption agency laid a trap and arrested him. Now, the rented house of Sana at Nabarangpur and his own house at Umerkote are being searched from the Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case 17/2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act.2018 has been registered.

Further investigation against Sana is in progress.
