Jharsuguda: Sambalpur Vigilance officials arrested the senior clerk of District Treasury Office of Jharsuguda on graft charges on Friday. The accused clerk has been identified as Satchitananda Patra.
As per reports, acting on a tip-off from one Rabin Pun of OMP Line, 2nd OSAP in Jharsuguda, the anti-corruption team laid a trap and arrested Patra while he was taking a bribe of Rs 4000 from Pun.
Dasarathi Sethi, DSP, Vigilance, Jharsuguda Unit, said that Patra had demanded Rs 20,000 from Pun to release approximately Rs 2.18 lakh towards the gratuity dues of his father.
We arrested him while he was taking Rs 4000 out of Rs 20,000 today, Sethi added.
The Vigilance team, meanwhile, is conducting a search at Patra’s residential house in Jharsuguda.
