Bhawanipatna: In a crackdown on corrupt officials in Kalahandi district, Vigilance sleuths arrested Senior Clerk of Junagarh Tehsil office Panchanan Suara on Wednesday while accepting bribe from a person.
The raid was conducted after the complainant one Jitendra Pradhan of Atigan village lodged a complaint against Suara at the Bhawanipatna Vigilance DSP’s office earlier in the day. In his complaint he accused the Clerk of demanding a bribe of Rs 1,500 to release a compensation for his sand inundated farmland.
Acting upon the complaint, a team of anti-corruption bureau officials headed by DSP Satyaban Mahananda kept waiting at the Junagarh Tehsil office in the afternoon and caught Suara red-handed while accepting bribe.
