Odisha Urban election: Tension at EVM Strong Room in Bhubaneswar as youth attempts to enter restricted zone

Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at a ‘Strong Room’ in Bhubaneswar as a youth allegedly attempted to enter the restricted zone this evening.

According to reports, supporters of different candidates were present near the ‘Strong Room’ in BJB College in Bhubaneswar. In the meantime, a youth allegedly attempted to enter the restricted zone of the Strong Room where the EVMs of the voting for Odisha Urban election have been kept.

Soon, some people created ruckus and had a scuffle with the cops deployed on the spot. Later, police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse the angry people and take control of the situation.

More police forces were deployed following the incident. Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Das rushed to the spot, following which cops conducted a flag march around the Strong Room.

While the voting for the Urban Local Body election was held yesterday the counting of votes will be done tomorrow. The results will also be declared thereafter.
