Shiksha SahayakBhubaneswar: The Odisha Primary Teachers’ Association (OPTA) and the Odisha Shikshya Sahayak Association (OSA), who have been staging dharna at PMG Square here from Wednesday, have called off their stir after getting positive assurance from School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra on Friday.

The decision came after a series of meetings held between the teachers’ body and the Minister last evening.

Speaking to media persons, OPTA President Rajesh Mohanty said that the School and Mass Education Minister has assured them to sort out their issues by November 30.

Their three-point charter of demands include a grade pay of Rs 2,200-2,800, abolition of Sikshya Sahayak and introduction of junior teacher rank instead.

OPTA President, however, informed that the teachers’ body will stage demonstration on December 1, if their demands are not fulfilled before the said time.
