Odisha: Tainted OPHWC Dy Manager Pratap Samal Given Compulsory Retirement

Bhubaneswar: The tainted OPHWC Deputy Manager Pratap Samal has been given compulsory retirement by the Government of Odisha.

It is noteworthy that, during investigation of a disproportionate assets case against the suspended Deputy Manager of Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), Bhubaneswar assets worth Rs.14, 88, 91,194/- was unearthed.

Pratap Kumar Samal, was arrested on 10.11.2021 by the Odisha Vigilance.

It was also found that Samal had made an unregistered partnership deed between his wife Sasmita Samal and his sister Namita Das for production of two Odia movies in the name of Radha Krishna Productions.

More than Rs.50 Lakhs of ill-gotten money appears to have been invested in production of these two movies.

Further examination of his bank accounts and bank accounts of his family members revealed more than Rs.1.5 Crores of suspicious deposits in various bank accounts of Samal and his family members through cash deposit, RTGS and NEFT.

Also, large investments were found to have been made in purchase of lands in Bhubaneswar and other places.

Nearly Rs. 1, 07, 37,831.74 has been invested in shares and debentures.
