Odisha: Suspended OPHWC Dy Manager Pratap Samal sent on 2 days remand

Bhubaneswar: During investigation of the DA case against the suspended Deputy Manager of Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), Bhubaneswar Pratap Kumar Samal, who was arrested on 10.11.2021 by Odisha Vigilance for possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs.14, 88, 91,194/- it has been found that Samal had made an unregistered partnership deed between his wife Sasmita Samal and his sister Namita Das for production of two Odia movies in the name of Radha Krishna Productions.

More than Rs.50 Lakhs of ill-gotten money appears to have been invested in production of these two movies. Further examination of his bank accounts and bank accounts of his family members revealed more that Rs.1.5 Crores of suspicious deposits in bank accounts of  Samal and his family members through cash deposit, RTGS and NEFT.

Also, large investments are found to have been made in purchase of lands in Bhubaneswar and other places.

Nearly Rs. 1, 07, 37,831.74 has been invested in shares and debentures.

Further scrutiny of financial documents is continuing by the Financial Wing of Odisha Vigilance. In order to ascertain further evidence in the case, Pratap Samal has been brought on remand for two days with effect from 16.11.2021 evening.

Further investigation of the case is in progress.
