Odisha students lock school on Children’s day Berhampur: While the students across the country were busy in celebrating Children’s Day today, students of Batasasan Primary School under Surada Block in Ganjam district locked the school demanding transfer of their Head Mistress (HM).

The students claimed that the Head Mistress is irregular to the school and does not provide the Mid-day Meal.

According to reports, Gitanjali Montry, the HM of the school, often remained absent in the school and maintained her own routine. The locals, who observed her, had apprised her along with the President of the school manytimes. However, she did not pay a heed. Later, the President of the school had also drawn attention of the School Inspector, Sub-Collector and local MLA about the mater.

As no action was taken against the HM, the students along with the locals locked the school today.

“Often we found her to be irregular in the school. She used to come after 11.30AM and leave the school by 3PM. Sometimes, she remained absent in the school  for two to three days in the school.  We had informed about this to the higher officials and local MLA. However, no action was taken against her yet,” said President of the school.

“We demand good teacher in the school who will be regular and dutiful,” he added.

On the other hand, Gitanjali rejected the allegation terming the protest as conspiracy of the villagers against her.

“I come to the school in time, but the villagers say that I am late. I attend the Morning Prayer and leave the school after all students leave. Has the Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) seen me coming late and going early? He says only because of the complaint by the locals. I follow the school timetable,” claimed the Head Mistress.
