Bhawanipatna: A woman allegedly strangulated her three-year-old stepdaughter to death at Lakhapadar village under Narla police limits in Kalahandi district on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Nandini Sahu. The father of the victim Jogeswar found her daughter dead after arriving at the house.
Police have started an investigation after the uncle of the deceased lodged a formal complaint. “Jogeswar had a second marriage after the death of his first wife. Neighbours had last seen the girl of playing outside her house in the evening. We have detained Jogeswar and his second wife for further interrogation,” said a police official.
