Odisha State Cabinet Meeting to be held today

Bhubaneswar: The meeting of the State Cabinet is scheduled to be held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to discuss matters regarding the upcoming Panchayat Election.

Reportedly, the Cabinet meeting will begin at 5 pm today where some important proposals may get approved. The official date of the three-tier Panchayat Election is scheduled to be announced next week.

The Odisha Election Commission on the exercise of powers vested on it by Article 243 K of the Constitution of India and Panchayat Acts and Rules had prescribed a Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Panchayat Polls in the State. The Model Code of Conduct has been issued in Odia and English versions

The code of conduct will come into force from the date of issue of Election Notifications by State Election Commission. It shall remain in force till the completion of counting of votes for the conduct of free and fair elections.

The voting deadlines have been extended. The voting process will take place from 7 am to 1 pm.
