Odisha SRC orders officials to operationalise natural disaster warning system

Bhubaneswar: With an objective to ensure safety and security of citizens in case of natural calamities, Bishnupada Sethi, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner yesterday instructed all departments and officials concerned to complete work on Early Warning Dissemination System (EWDS) before October 29, 2018.

As per the instruction of the SRC, the officials have been given a deadline for starting the EWDS operations with effect from 29th of October, 2018.

The deadline which was set recently during a high level meeting chaired by the SRC, laid emphasis on expediting EWDS installation in work 6 coastal districts and the State headquarters under National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project.

For the smooth completion of the project a monitoring team has also been constituted under Deputy Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra to clear all hindrances in the way of the project.

Notably, the Executant in the project L&T has assured to complete the project  by the scheduled date and the SRR has asked the TCIL to conduct operational Acceptance Test (OAT) of the systems as early as possible.
