Odisha SRC Issues Fresh Guideline For Marriage And Funeral Rites; Check Details

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Tuesday issued a fresh guideline for marriage, funeral and last rites-related gatherings.

A letter issued by the SRC to all the District Collectors, Superintendent of Police, Municipal Commissioners and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police, revealed that the marriage and related gatherings shall be allowed with a ceiling of 200 persons instead of 500 persons while funeral/last rites related gatherings shall be allowed with only 60 persons instead of 500 persons.

The CRC said that in a closed space, keeping the size of the ground/open space, appropriate number of persons subject to the above ceilings will be permitted so as to ensure maintenance of the prescribed physical distancing norms.

It has made wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and provision of thermal scanning and use of hand wash or sanitizer mandatory during such gatherings.

The host of the marriage/funeral function will have to make necessary arrangements for checking at the entry point and ensure wearing of masks by the guests/ others during the entire duration of their participation. The host shall make arrangements to provide masks to those who have not come with appropriate mask.

“Any person found violating this order shall be punished under the provision of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other relevant laws,” said the letter adding the order shall take effect from March 26, 2021.
