Odisha SRC issues Covid guidelines for Republic Day celebrations

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued guidelines for the celebration of Republic Day 2022 across Odisha abiding by Covid safety protocols.

Reportedly, the State Government has allowed citizens to unfurl the National Flag at their homes on Republic Day tomorrow without much crowd where not more than five persons shall be allowed to congregate.

In addition, the celebration in other public/private institutions, clubs, and similar places shall be allowed with not more than 10 persons attending in strict compliance to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, the guidelines read.

All the Covid-19 safety protocols, such as social distancing, wearing of masks and proper sanitation shall be duly followed by one and all during the celebration.

Notably, all the security arrangements have been beefed up in the capital city, Bhubaneswar for a smooth Republic Day parade on Wednesday at Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

As many as 62 CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic points and one control room has also been set up and a five-tier security arrangement has been made for the Republic Day celebrations, informed Twin City Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi.

This year only Police contingents shall participate in the State Parade and there will be no participation by the general public in the celebration.
