Odisha Speaker Sets 3 Day Deadline For Former MLAs To Vacate Govt Quarters

Bhubaneswar: Odisha speaker Surjya Narayan Patro has given a 3-day deadline for former legislators who are yet to vacate MLA quarters.

Patro has also warned of possible police action if the occupants fail to vacate the quarters by the deadline.

The speaker in September had also asked the former legislators to vacate their quarters as newly-elected MLAs faced accommodation problems.

Sources said that more than 20 ex-MLAs including former ministers have been overstaying ‘unauthorisedly’ in government quarters. Patro at that time had also warned to snap power and electricity supply of those quarters.

Former ministers Damodar Rout, Bijayshree Routray, Puspendra Singh Deo, Ramesh Majhi, Sanjay Das Burma, Debasis Nayak and Sanjeeb Sahoo are yet to vacate their government quarters though the quarters allotted to them were cancelled in June.
