Bhubaneswar: As the different cultural organisations and political parties in Odisha have voiced demanding ‘State song’ status to ‘Vande Utkala Janani’, Culture and Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Saturday said that the State Government will soon take an appropriate decision in this regard.
Speaking to media persons here, Panda said that every Odia has high regards for the song, composed by Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, irrespective of where it is sung- State Assembly or in public.
“Vande Utkala Janani song, composed by Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, is respected by every Odia in Odisha and outside. The State government will soon take a decision to accord it as State song after studying other States who have declared their own State song,” Panda said.
Cultural organizations like ‘Ame Odia’ and ‘Utkal Sammilani’ recently demanded state song tag for ‘Vande Utkala Janani’.
