Keonjhar: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Champua today convicted six men and sentenced them to life imprisonment for killing six members of a family in July 2015 on the suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
The court also sentenced a woman to rigorous imprisonment for three and half years in the same case and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of those sentenced to life imprisonment.
The accused had hacked six members of the family of Guru Munda to death with sharp edged weapons at Lahanda village under Joda police limits suspecting the Munda family of practicing witchcraft.
The victims included Munda couple and their two minor sons and two minor daughters. Two others of the family members were lucky to escape the attack.
