Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Siksha Sahayak Association (OSSA) put their strike on hold at least for a month after a discussion with the School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra here on Thursday, informed OSSA President Malaya Jena.
The decision came after the State Government assured to fulfill at least four-point charter of demands out of total seven raised by the Sikshya Sahayaks (SS), sources said.
Over 24,000 SSs , who were appointed before 6 years, will be regularised, while salary of all the SSs will be increased to 25% as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, sources added.
The State Government also assured to pay 2 lakh rupees aid to the kin of deceased SS in certain cases. It also agreed to hike its share of 40% in salary and decided to request the Centre to increase their share of 60% in this regard.
Meanwhile, the association has warned to resume its agitation if the government fails to fulfill their assurance in true letter and spirit within one month.
The OSSA began its indefinite agitation at Lower PMG here on Monday demanding fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands. As many as 70,000 SSs also went on a mass leave to press their demands.
Currently, around 90,000 SSs have been posted in different schools across the state.
