Bhawanipatna: Tightening the noose around the neck of corrupt officials, the Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday intercepted a Sub Inspector of Golamunda Police station in Kalahandi district and caught him with huge cash money for which he could not provide any satisfactory answer.
As per reports, on receipt of reliable information regarding collection of huge cash by Ugrasen Patel, the SI of Golamunda PS as illegal gratification from different sources, the officers of Vigilance Koraput Division kept a close watch over Patel’s movement and activities.
On Wednesday, the Vigilance officers of Koraput Division intercepted him at 6 pm near Golamunda bus stand, while he was plying towards Golamunda Police Station in his Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle.
During interception, a sum of Rs. 2 lakh was recovered from the possession of Patel, for which he could not provide any satisfactory answer.
Following the interception, office room, residential quarter of Patel and his house at native village in Balangir are being searched. Investigation of the case is underway.
