Odisha: Shop owner looted at gunpoint in Ganjam

Berhampur: Robbers looted gold jewellery worth over Rs 3 lakh from a garment shop owner at Badagada town under Surada block in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday night.

According to reports, three youths barged into the shop, owned by K Simadri Patra, located at the town last evening. They held the shop owner and his wife K Geetanjali Patra at gunpoint and locked the door inside.

The miscreants snatched three gold chains, a pair of bangles and two rings from the couple. They also took two mobile phones and cash from them and escaped from the spot.

Geetanjali sustained injury in her neck and hands as the miscreants forcefully snatched the jewellery from her.

On being informed, Aska SDPO Suryamani Pradhan and Badagada IIC Pratap Chandra Sarangi reached the spot and began investigation into the matter.

“We are yet to identify the persons involved in the robbery and search is on to nab them,” police said.
