Odisha sees spike in Covid cases today with 7426 positives

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 7,426 fresh cases of Covid in the last 24 hours including 867 in the 0-18 years age group, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Wednesday.

The new 7,426 positive cases include 1,959 cases from Khordha, followed by 778 from Sundergarh, 548 from Cuttack and 496 from Balasore have been detected in the last 24 hours.

Among the 7,426 positives, 4306 patients are in quarantine and 3120 are the local contacts. Currently, the active cases stand at 74,512.

Notably on Tuesday, State Health Services Director said that the transmission is on a declining trend in Odisha. If downtrend persists, it can be assumed that Odisha has crossed third wave peak. Not only in cities, the virus transmission is prevalent in rural areas too, he added.
