Odisha: Sec 144 imposed in Remuna after group clash

Balasore: The district administration on Wednesday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in Remuna town of Odisha’s Balasore distrct following a groups clash during Remuna Mahotsav last night.

Sources said, at least ten persons sustained injuries and three critical as a clash broke out between two groups over some dispute at a cycle stand set up near the venue of the mahotsav.

According to reports, some youths of nearby Ginipur village were managing a paid parking lot at the festival during which an argument ensued between them and several youths of Mandarpur village.

It soon took an ugly turn as youths of the two groups attacked each other with sharp weapons, as a result of which ten of them sustained injuries. The injured persons have been admitted to the local hospital.

However, the situation was brought under control as police resorted to lathi charge. Later, Section 144 was imposed.

Meanwhile, Remuna police detained ten persons from each group in this connection. It also ordered closure of shops and markets from Gopinath Temple area to Remuna to prevent any untoward incident.
