Bhubaneswar: The schools in Odisha for classes 6th and 7th will reopen post Diwali, informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Wednesday.

He also said that the classes will reopen in phases and a decision will be taken soon regarding reopening of schools for standard 1st to 5th. “It is expected that by New Year 2022 all the schools would have been reopened for kids,” he said.

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) will remain the same as it was listed during the reopening of other classes. “Since it is difficult to educate toddlers about Covid appropriate behavior, the Government is considering how to go about it,” Minister said.

It is noteworthy that, offline or physical classes for standards 8 resumed on 25th October and 11 on 21st October, through a prior notice from the School and Mass Education department.

It is worth noting that, the physical classes of 9 to 12 standard students were already being conducted in the State with strict adherence to Covid guidelines. But the students have been given the option of attending classes online.

Official sources at the School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department had informed that the schools will reopen for classes 8 and 11 after the puja vacations.

The schools were cleaned and sanitized as a measure to prepare for the reopening.

However it is worth mentioning that, the Odisha government had declared vacations for schools from October 9 to October 20 in view of Durga Puja followed by Kumar Purnima.
