Odisha reports huge spike in Covid cases, Khordha tops the list

Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Wednesday reported a huge spike in Covid cases with 743 positives today. The state has been reporting above 500 Covid positives for four consecutive days.

According to the data shared by the Information & Public Relations Department, 743 new positives were reported in 27 districts and the State Pool. A total of 509 persons were infected with the virus on Tuesday.

There are 87 children in the 0-18 age group. Out of the total cases, 436 are quarantine cases while the rest 317 are local contacts. Currently, there are 3878 active cases in the State.

It is pertinent to mention that the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued strict Covid restrictions in public places in view of the rising number of positive cases. The Covid protocols such as no overcrowding of customers in food stalls, social distancing of 6 Ft., usage of face masks, hand sanitization, have been imposed.
