Odisha reports 156 new Covid-19 cases including 20 children

Bhubaneswar: A total of 156 Covid-19 positive cases including 20 in the 0-18 years age group have been detected positive in Odisha in the last 24 hours.

This has taken the tally of Covid to 10,54,160 informed the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Tuesday.

Among the 156 positives, 93 are quarantine cases and 63 are local contacts.

However, 167 patients recovered in the State taking the total number of recovered persons to 10,44,093. There are a total of 1559 active cases.

On the other hand, Odisha reports two deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 8456. Details of cases confirmed as death due to Covid-19, after due completion of the death audit process:

1. A 40 years old Female of Bhubaneswar who was also a case of post kidney transplantation.

2. A 72 years old Female of Ganjam District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

The Department further informed that the list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19.

It is noteworthy that eight cases of Covid Omicron positives have been detected in Odisha. However, the first Omicron detected patient recovered at a private hospital in Cuttack on Monday and will be discharged soon. He is a resident of Jagatsinghpur and has a travel history to Nigeria.
