New Delhi: Odisha has received the ‘Best Festival Destination Award’ for the world famous Rath Yatra or Annual Car Festival of Lord Jagannath in Puri. Odisha Tourism Minister Ashok Kumar Panda received the honour at a special award ceremony in New Delhi on Monday.
The ‘Best Festival Destination Award’, given by India Today Group, has honored one of the most awaited festivals in the Odisha dedicated to Lord Jagannath (Lord Krishna), his sister Goddess Subhadra and his elder brother Lord Balabhadra.
After receiving the award, Tourism Minister Ashok Kumar Panda said Odisha has been bestowed with the honour because of the divine blessings of the holy trinity. He further hailed the State Government for making Odisha the most tourist-friendly state in the country.
