Odisha readies for vote counting on May 23

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar’s Returning Officers are set to receive a two-day training, starting from Monday ahead of vote counting to be held on May 23.  With just one phase of polling for General elections left to go and the state being done with its Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Odisha is now gearing for the decisive vote counting.

As per reports, 70 Returning Officers from 15 districts will be given training at an independent model vote counting centre at Jaydev Bhawan in the state capital. The training is scheduled to start from 9 am till 5 pm. Regional CEO has been overlooking the arrangements for the training.

The officers will receive training on Monday and Tuesday and after that district-level Election Officers will be trained from May 15-18.

As has been mentioned previously, VVPAT machines were put in use in 2019 Elections for the first time for bringing transparency for the voters. The vote cast in EVM would be tallied with VVPAT ticket for getting an accurate count. The officers would be trained to handle the entire process.
