Odisha: Rape Accused Who Escaped Thrice Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Rape accused Tapan Rout who has escaped for the third time on August 9 was apprehended today.

Police said that Rout was nabbed from a forest near his village Karabara in Fategarh area, where he was hiding.

Rout who was arrested on charges of rape of a minor girl jumped off moving court van while being taken to the court from Khandapada sub-jail. Following the incident, the Nayagarh SP has suspended five policemen for dereliction of duty.

Rout had also earlier run away from the jail on May 10 for the first time while he also managed to escape from custody on August 3 for the second time.
