Odisha Rajya Sabha MP AV Swamy hospitalised after collapse

New Delhi: Independent Rajya Sabha MP from Odisha, AV Swamy was injured and rushed to hospital after he collapsed inside the Parliament on Friday.

The incident took place while all the MPs were waiting in the lobby after the Upper House got adjourned till noon. Minutes before the starting of the Question Hour, Swamy lost balance and fell to the ground. He suffered head and hand injury and was sent to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here immediately.

After the Rajya Sabha reassembled, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu made an announcement on the incident.

Swamy (88), who had been elected to the Upper House from Odisha in 2012, would complete his tenure on April 3 this year.
