Balasore: Some angry locals on Tuesday thrashed police personnel of Balasore Sadar Police station while the latter were pacifying them at Kolama Chowk on Balasore-Mayurbhanj district border.
Balasore Sadar Police station ASI, police vehicle driver and four locals were injured in the attack. They have been admitted to Balasore District Headquarter Hospital. The police vehicle was also damaged by the locals.
According to reports, a fight had erupted between the locals of Bankatira village in Balasore district and Kolama village of Mayurbhanj district over some issue since last December. However, it got intensified after a dhaba at Kolama Chowk was torched by some miscreants last night.
Tension prevailed in the area as some locals staged a road blockade on Balasore-Baripada route. Many vehicles were left stranded on the road due to the road blockade.
