Odisha Police strengthens security before Budget Session in State Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has strengthened the security of the State Assembly here ahead of the budget session which starts tomorrow. Police DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma along with other senior police officers inspected the security arrangements on Sunday.

Dr Sharma informed that three-level security is being employed for the upcoming budget session in State Assembly. He said, “There will be 30 platoons of Police deployed and another 100 senior officers will keep an eye on maintaining safety and security during the budget session. “

“An additional two-unit force will be deployed in sensitive areas, informed DGP Dr Sharma. On top of all this, Police officials in plain clothes will be posted at previously selected locations.”

Since this will be the last budget presentation before the upcoming elections, allocated protest sites will be kept under a special scanner. Barricading will be done as usual and also CCTV camera shall be installed to keep an eye in and around the State Assembly.

Three Police control rooms have also been activated to help maintain the security.

Additionally, Dr Sharma said, “Intelligence Department will stay alert with rumours of protests from various organisations.”
