Odisha Police Starts Crackdown On Illegal Firecracker Manufacturing Units

Baripada: Police have started a crackdown on illegal firecracker manufacturing factories in the state ahead of Diwali.

Baisinga police in Mayurbhanj today conducted multiple raids in Bachuripada area and seized around 100 kg of explosives. Police have also seized more than 100 kg firecrackers and raw materials the spots.

Baisinga police have registered six cases against six accused in this connection. Police said that similar crackdown will also start in other areas of the state as well.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) has also decided to launch a special drive on transportation of crackers in trains. The ECoR has urged the passengers not to carry crackers and also not letting other passengers transport crackers in trains. Carrying inflammable materials including firecrackers in the train is a punishable offence and the offender may get imprisonment up to 3 years.
