Balasore: The Odisha Police successfully broke the chain of gun runners. A youth from Bihar was planning to supply illegal firearms from Soro of Balasore district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Lokesh Singh of Baisali district in Bihar.
Based on a piece of reliable information on the supply of illegal firearms by the smuggler, the Soro police conducted a raid near Bidu Chowk in Soro while Lokesh was waiting for his customer and seized one illegal firearm along with four ammunition from his possession. The team of police arrested Lokesh on the spot.
It has been learnt that Lokesh imports guns from Munger of Bihar and sells them in Soro, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
Several cases of theft and burglary have been registered in various police stations in Bhadrak against Lokesh, informed police officials. The cops have initiated an investigation into dealing with illegal firearms.
