Odisha Police Make Final Security Arrangement For Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha police have decided to request Ministry of Civil Aviation as well as Ministry of Home Affairs to declare Puri Bada Danda (Grand Road) and the temple premises as no flying zone for the low-flying objects like helicopter, drones during Rath Yatra.

This was decided during a coordination meeting held at the DGP camp office in Bhubaneswar today. Police DG R.P Sharma presided over the meeting.

The state police have also requested the National Security Guard (NSG) to keep one team in readiness in their Hyderabad hub to meet any emergency during the festival.

“One team of NDRF consisting of 45 members will be deployed during the festival to meet any emergency situation. Coast Guard will identify some black spots along the sea coast of Puri town. Professional divers, lifeguards and ambulance will be kept in readiness in these spots,” said Sharma.

Commissioner of Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack will operate several Traffic Control Rooms along the Cuttack-Puri NH and Bhubaneswar-Puri NH in their jurisdiction to streamline the movement of traffic as well as provide security to the visiting VIPs.

“An integrated Control Room shall function at Town P.S., Puri where representatives from Odisha Police, CRPF, NDRF, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, RPF and other agencies will remain present round the clock for proper coordination,” added Sharma.
