Dhenkanal: A police officer has been arrested by the Vigilance Officials on charges of bribery. The accused has been identified as IIC of Nihalprasad Police Station, Chittaranjan Behera.
Behera was caught red-handed by the Vigilance sleuths of the Cuttack Division while demanding and accepting undue advantage of Rs 6,000.
The IIC was arrested while taking the bribe amount from complainant Aintha Sethi not to arrest him, his spouse and son in a dowry torture case, which was registered by his daughter-in-law.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the driver of Behera, said the source adding that the residential house of the cop in Cuttack is being searched on Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
