Odisha Police DG Advises Railway Stations To Obtain Fire Safety Certificate
Bhubaneswar: Police DG B.K Sharma has advised all the railway stations to obtain fire safety certificate under Odisha Fire Prevention and Safety Rules 2017.
Sharma made the advice during the second quarterly meeting of State Level Security Committee for Railways which was held today under the chairmanship of him in his camp office at Bhubaneswar.
The committee has been formed under the direction of Ministry of Home Affairs. Senior officials of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Intelligence Bureau and Odisha police are members of the committee. Railway authorities were also requested to take steps for improvement of infrastructure facilities of GRP including construction and repair of the official and residential buildings.
The security measures at various important stations in the state were also reviewed in the meeting and it was decided to bring more stations under CCTV surveillance. Police said that several cases of theft have been detected through CCTV footage at major railway stations Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela and Jharsuguda.
Sharma suggested RPF to give the list of private contractors working in railways to GRP and these contractors be instructed to be held responsible for verifying the character-antecedents of all the labourers under their control.
The state police also proposed railway authority for the construction of boundary wall around the station premises and for pasting of passenger awareness stickers above the washbasin of every compartment of trains.
