Jagatsinghpur: Police today claimed to have solved the murder mystery of Niaharika Patra whose body was found on Biluakhai river bed near Nuapari area in Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday.
Police said that her boyfriend Kishore Kumar Anchal alias Raja was the lone accused involved in the murder. Police said that Raja who was in a relationship with the deceased for the past five years killed her after she delayed to marry him.
“The accused used to force her for marriage but she was reluctant to marry him as Raja was unemployed. On September 8 the accused took her from the private nursing home and later both of them went to the rented accommodation of one of the friends of Raja in Chauliagnaj,” said Jagatsinghpur SP, R.Prakash. The deceased was working with a Cuttack based private nursing home.
Police said Raja strangulated her to death at the house. “Later he stuffed the body in a sack and transported the body on his motorcycle before dumping the body on the river bank. The accused confessed to the crime and we have also seized the motorcycle used for transportation of the body,” added the SP.
Her family members had lodged a missing complaint with the Madhupatna police station in Cuttack on September 9. “Investigation revealed that it was a preplanned murder. Though the accused denied involvement of others in the crime we are further investigating to ascertain the involvement of others in the crime,” said a police official.
