Odisha: Police busts goat lifting gang, 5 arrested

Jajpur: Dharmasala Police in Jajpur district today busted a goat lifting gang and arrested as many as five persons for their involvement in the case.

One Birakishore Behera of Nilakanthapur village under Dharmasala Police station limits filed a police complaint alleging that some miscreants had stolen four goats from his goatshed on May 15.

Based on his complaint, police had started an investigation into the matter and in the process arrested one Nalua Nayak of Jaleswarpur village.

While interrogating Nayak, cops came to know that the accused used to lift goats from different places and keep them in the house of Dilip Mallick, a resident of Odagaon. Police conducted a raid on Dilip’s house and arrested him after recovering 16 goats from his possession.

Later, three other accused persons were arrested by the cops.

Dharmasala Police station IIC informed that all the five accused persons have been forwarded to the court and the rescued goats will be handed over to their owners after identifying them.
