Odisha Police ASI caught red handed by vigilance, arrested

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Odisha Police while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from a complainant.

Manmohan Jali, ASI of Police, Siko Out Post under Jankia Police Station in Khorda district, was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 from complainant Umesh Rath.

The accused police officer had reportedly demanded the illegal gratification in a pretext to settle the Civil dispute in favour of the complainant.

Based on the complaints of Rath, the vigilance sleuths organised a trap to catch the accused red-handed. The right-hand wash of the accused gave positive chemical reaction, Vigilance official said

Later, the vigilance officials also conducted a raid at the official residence of Jali in Khordha.

A case has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance against the accused official in this connection. Jali will be forwarded to the Court tomorrow, Vigilance official added.
