Odisha: Police arrests man who works as painter during day & commits theft at night in Bhubaneswar: Watch

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested a miscreant who used to work as a house painter during day time and commits theft on the same house at night. Laxmi Sagar Thana Police arrested him who managed to avoid arrest for the last five years although committed many such thefts.

The accused has been identified as Dillip Kumar Nayak (28), a native of Nuagan in Nayagarh district. He was living in Sisupalgarh area in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, Dillip used to observe the houses keenly when he would do the painting work at a house during day time. At night he would commit theft on the same house.

Laxmi Sagar Police has seized Rs 44,000, 8 gold chains, 7 ear wearing, 4 rings, 9 bangles and silver jewelleries from his possession. He was spending a lavish life with the theft money. He has bought a costly car, 2 bikes and a scooty with the theft money. Police have seized these vehicles.

As per reports, he was involved not only in theft but also in attempt to rape. He attempted to rape a woman in 2020. The matter had been complained at the Badagada Police Station in Bhubaneswar. Recently PCR van nabbed him when he was wandering at night in the capital city. Police had detained him.

Dillip reportedly started committing theft in 2016 when he was merely 23 years old. Initially he stole AC fittings and household equipment and later looted gold jewelleries and other costly items. Many cases are pending on Dillip’s name in the Police Stations of Laxmi Sagar, Dhauli, Mancheswar and Badagada in the capital city. Police have made him accused in 11 criminal cases and forwarded to the Court. Another person has also been arrested in this connection for buying theft items from the accused.
