Talcher: A Sub-inspector (SI) has been suspended and arrested on charges of making sexual advances on a woman under Talcher police limits of Angul district.
The accused has been identified as Nilamani Mohanty.
According to sources, Nilamani was earlier working as former defence personnel. He has been appointed as a sub-inspector at Banarpal police station on a contractual basis following his retirement from service. He was assigned for highway patrolling.
During highway patrolling duty on Wednesday night, Mohanty allegedly knocked the door of a house at around 3.30 AM under Talcher limits in an inebriated condition. When, the woman opened the door, Mohanty demanded sexual favour from the woman.
The woman somehow managed to record their conversation on her mobile phone.
Subsequently, the woman lodged a complaint and at Talcher Police Station and provided the video as evidence. Based on the complaint, Mohanty was suspended and later arrested following a primary investigation into the incident.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
