Odisha pays rich tribute to Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das
Bhubaneswar: The people of Odisha on Tuesday paid rich tributes to Utkalmani Pundit Gopabandhu Das on his birth anniversary. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered floral tributes at the statue of Gopabandhu in the lawns of the State Assembly here.
Patnaik took Twitter route to remember the Utkalmani on this occasion. He said, Pundit Gopabandhu Das will be remembered for his selfless service, contribution to Odia literature and contribution to build an educated society.

Among other programmes to mark the occasion, the Chief Minister will also lay foundation stone of Odia University at Satyabadi in Puri district today.
Political leaders from different parties and people from different walks of life have also paid floral tributes at the statue of Pt. Gopabandhu in the capital city.
Functions have also been organized across the state to remember Gopabandhu for his selfless contribution on nation building.
Born on 9 October 1877 to Swarnamayee Devi and Daitari Das in Suando Village, near Puri, Odisha, Pt. Gopabandhu was one of the extraordinary personalities of Odisha. His role to expedite social transformation, educational reform, and selfless service to the down trodden people earned him the title ‘Utkalmani’ (Gem of Odisha).
