Odisha Panchayat Polls: Youth killed in Poll violence in Bhadrak district

Bhadrak: A youth was killed due to poll violence in Bhadrak district of Odisha. The incident took place in Jahangir area in Dalang panchayat under Dhamnagar Police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Pratap Chandra Rout of Jahangir area.

As per the allegation, the youth was attacked by the workers of a certain party. Family members of the deceased have complained at Dhamnagar Police station that the youth was thrashed to death by the members of a political party. In the complaint, it has been alleged that the youth from BJD was killed by some workers of BJP. However, BJP has refuted the allegation.

As per the complaint, when Pratap was returning home in the night some BJP workers attacked him. After knowing about the incident as his brother and some villagers came out for his rescue, the workers also threatened them.

After Pratap was thrashed, he was rushed to the Dhamnagar Community Health Centre where he succumbed to the injury.

On the basis of the FIR lodged, Dhamnagar Police have started the investigation of the case.
