Odisha Panchayat Polls: Final preparations underway in Naxal-affected Rayagada district

Rayagada: With just a day before the panchayat elections in Odisha, final preparations are underway in the naxal affected Rayagada district.

In the first phase of election on February 16, votes will be done in two zones of Bissamcuttack and Muniguda blocks, and one zone in Chandrapur block.

A total of 1,52,106 voters from 554 wards of 46 panchayats in the three blocks that is Bissamcuttack, Muniguda and Chandrapur will cast their votes. Of the 554 booths in these three blocks, 46 booths are highly sensitive and 87 are sensitive.  Regarding security, 11 booths have been relocated.

For the first phase of elections, a total 2216 people, including 1662 polling officers, 554 police officers have been deployed. SOG, CRPF and DVF jawans have been stationed in the Naxal-hit district to monitor the movement of the maoists.

With just a day before the panchayat elections in Odisha, final preparations are underway in the naxal affected Rayagada district.

Vehicles are being inspected by the police at all entrances to the Rayagada border, so the Maoist activity would not be held. In the Niyamagiri area of ​​Rayagada, while the Maoists are in power, Rayagada SP Shri Sharma has directed all police officers of the police station to be vigilant in view of the possibility of any untoward incident at any time.

The CRPF in Dangsorda and Chandrapur towns in the Chandrapur block has intensified the search process. To all government officials in charge of elections, the administration has been asked to conduct the election with caution.
