Koraput: The three-tier election in the disputed Kotia Gram Panchayat will be conducted. The strategy of three political parties, BJD, BJP and Congress has drastically failed.
It is to be noted here that the three major political parties had taken the decision to field a consensus candidate for the Pottangi Zone-1 Zilla Parishad under Kotia GP with an aim to thwart the possible disruption by neighbouring Andra Pradesh.
The political parties have chosen Mamata Jani, a graduate from Thuria village of the district, as the consensus candidate. Jani has filed nomination papers for Zilla Parishad seat.
However, two ladies Tikai Gemel and Sabina Burdia also filed their nomination papers to contest the election against Mamata.
Later, Sabina withdrew her nomination papers following discussion with the leaders of all three parties but Tikai affirmed that she won’t withdraw her nomination papers but contest the election from the same zone.
