Odisha Panchayat Elections likely to be held in February 2022, See details

Bhubaneswar: The three-tier Panchayat elections in Odisha is likely to be held in the first or second week of February 2022. Reportedly, the official announcement will be made later this month. The preparations are in full swing ahead of the three-tier election.

It is also likely that the date of the Panchayat Elections will be officially announced between December 26 and December 31. The code of conduct may also be implemented, added reports.

The voter list is expected to be made available to all the parties involved in the by-elections on December 20. The three-tier elections will be held in 6.794 panchayats in the state.

Zilla Parishad candidates are allowed to spend Rs 5 lakh, Samiti Sabhya members and Sarpanch candidates are allowed to spend Rs 2 lakh.

The voting deadlines have been extended. The voting process will take place from 7 am to 1 pm.

Earlier on November 6, the State Election Commission (SEC) held an all-party meeting where there was a discussion over six agendas. The Electors Photo Identification Card (EPIC) id number of the voters will be added along with their names to the list, said State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi.

Various proposals were put forward by different parties at the meeting such as all the liquor shops should be closed seven days prior to the election date. Officers should be appointed at each voting booth to conduct fair voting.
