Odisha Panchayat Elections: 7116 ward members, 22 Zilla Parishad members file nominations today
Bhubaneswar: On the first day of filing nominations on Monday for the panchayat elections in Odisha, 7116 candidates filed nominations for the post of ward members. Similarly, 22 candidates filed nominations for Zilla Parishad member. The nominations were filed adhering to Covid norms.
As per the information provided by the I and PR Department, 1122 candidates filed nominations for the post of Sarpanch.
Similarly, as many as 512 candidates filed nominations for the post of Panchayat Samiti Members.
In total, 8772 nominations were filed for the upcoming Panchayat polls. The nominations can be filed up to January 21 while the scrutiny will be held on January 22.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 25. As per the schedule, the three-tier panchayat polls in Odisha will be held in five phases from February 16 to 24. Results will be declared on February 26, 27 and 28.
