Berhampur: A notorious criminal was injured in an encounter with police near Gudidhepa in Khallikote under Ganjam district in Odisha late last night.
The criminal has been identified as Anant Kumar Macchua alias Mani. He belongs to Ranapur of Nayagarh district.
According to reports, Macchua sustained bullet injuries on his right leg during the encounter. He has been admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here for treatment.
Police seized a mouser, three bullets, a bike, a mobile phone and some amount of cash from his possession.
Over ten criminal cases are pending against Machhua at various police stations in the district, police said.
