Odisha: No respite from heat as temperature to reach 43°C in 2-3 days

The daytime temperature in Odisha is likely rise by up to two to three degrees and soar up to 43 degree Celsius in the coming 2 to 3 days.

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has predicted that the daytime temperature in Odisha is likely rise by up to two to three degrees and soar up to 43 degree Celsius in the coming two to three days.

The people across the state are experiencing intense heat wave conditions as the temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this year. The heatwave is being experienced all over the state including the coastal and innermost areas. The heat wave is more intense in the Southern parts of the state.

Baripada recorded a highest daytime temperature of 40 degrees. While, the the daytime mercury soared above 39 degrees Celsius in Bhubaneswar.

As the day temperature continues to rise in various parts of the state, heat and humidity have overwhelmed the people. According to the Meteorological Center, the temperature is increasing due to the entry of dry air from the lower part of the atmosphere.

The soaring temperature threw normal life out of gear in these areas. After 12 noon, the roads bore a deserted look. Instead of venturing out, people chose to remain inside. Those who had urgency were on the roads. Cyclists and pedestrians were seen using headgear and umbrellas to protect themselves from the scorching sun.
