Sonepur: A man was trampled to death by wild elephant at Hatipahula village under Ulunda Range in Sonepur district.
The deceased has been identified as Ugrasena Bhoi.
Sources said, a herd of around 40 elephants entered the village last night and was destroying the paddy crops. When the villagers tried to drive away the herd of pachyderms, Ugrasena was crushed to death by one of the wild elephant.
Till the filing of this report, the forest department officials were yet to reach the spot.
